crandall construction specializes in sustainable building methods and materials and is a builder of finely crafted unique homes since 1983

Upon graduation from Occidental College in 1977, Pete Crandall had the good fortune to apprentice as a carpenter on a Frank Gehry designed residence in Venice, Ca. That experience sparked his life-long passion for creative design and challenging construction techniques.

Over the next few years, Pete traveled and worked on a wide variety of residential and commercial projects throughout California, learning every aspect of the building trade. This experience also gave him a broad exposure to various regional elements affecting construction, such as differences in climate, terrain, soil types and building department idiosyncrasies.

In 1983, Pete acquired his contractors license and started Crandall Construction. He has done an extensive variety of work over the years, enjoying the challenge of trying innovative building products and practices. He has been particularly interested in using natural and recycled building materials, building his first rammed earth home in 1998. His years of experience with alternative and sustainable construction methods has dovetailed nicely with the relatively recent mainstream public interest in green building. As a result, many of his client’s homes have been featured on local green building tours.

Located in the Sierra Nevada foothill community of Three Rivers, CA since 1991, Pete has had the opportunity to work with a variety of architects and clients from throughout the state. Always respectful of the client’s desires and budget, Pete likes to encourage them towards sustainability and/or a unique interpretation of conventional materials. Working with talented artisans and craftsmen, a hallmark of Pete’s style is to incorporate one of a kind architectural details into most of his projects. As a “hands-on” contractor known for his integrity and experience, Pete is personally involved in each project from start to finish, creating homes that uniquely reflect each client.
